Unfortunately, his hot bat from the year prior didn't carry through, as he hit just .191 with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs through 135 games.

His struggles in 2024 led some to think he might not make the Blue Jays roster this season, although he played well enough in Spring Training to earn a spot.

After hitting an ugly .067 through 21 plate appearances to begin the season, however, he left management with no choice but to send him to Triple-A Buffalo.

ROSTER MOVE:

🔹 UTIL Davis Schneider optioned to Triple-A pic.twitter.com/vpATNu6GbR
— Toronto Blue Jays (@BlueJays) April 17, 2025

Interestingly enough, Schneider was one of several MLB players who elected to use the controversial torpedo bat, which has been making waves throughout the league this season. Fans were hopeful that the change would improve his stats at the case, but that hadn't gone to plan in the limited action he'd seen so far this season.

Schneider made his MLB debut in 2023 after being called up in August. He got off to a scorching-hot start, becoming the first player in league history to record nine hits through his first three games. He wound up finishing the 2023 season hitting .276 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs in just 35 games.

Schneider, who can play second and third base, as well as left field, will now head to Triple-A Buffalo to try and get his confidence back at the plate. If he can do so, we could very well see him back in a Blue Jays uniform before the season concludes.

Though things haven't gone very well for Schneider to begin the 2025 season, they are much more positive for the Blue Jays as a whole. They currently sit at 11-8 through their first 19 games, which is second in the AL-East to only the New York Yankees, who are 11-7.

They'll look to improve upon that record tomorrow in what is the start of a three-game series at Rogers Centre versus the Seattle Mariners.
