It's perhaps the only place in the city where you'll find multiple peameal bacon sandwich vendors cohabitating peacefully under one roof. It's also home to what is, in all likelihood, the best farmers' market in the city, now operating every Saturday out of its shiny new home.</p><p>For all of St. Lawrence Market's strengths, though, for a long time, the surrounding area found itself majorly lacking in the nightlife category. Sure, bars and social clubs have come and gone over the years, but nothing really managed to make an impression. Until 2021, that is.</p><p>That year, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, two hot new spots burst onto the scene, invigorating the densely populated yet largely mellow neighbourhood: <a href="https://www.blogto.com/bars/bar-cathedral-toronto/">Bar Cathedral</a> and <a href="https://www.blogto.com/bars/bar-st-lo-toronto/">Bar St. Lo</a>.</p><p>Both concepts caught lightning in a bottle, almost instantly garnering devoted fan bases that have hardly dwindled in the years since.</p><p>In the case of Bar St. Lo, its popularity was only bolstered with the addition of regular events and DJ nights, on top of&nbsp;a menu crafted with ingredients sourced at St. Lawrence Market, which just so happens to be right next door. Suffice it to say, St. Lo was, and continues to be, a total hit.</p><p>All good things must come to an end, though, and that's proving true in the case of Bar St. Lo, which took to their social media accounts in late March to announce that they would be closing down permanently as of the end of April.</p><blockquote class="instagram-media"><div style="padding: 16px;"><div style="display: flex;"><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 50%; height: 40px; margin-right: 14px; width: 40px;">&nbsp;</div><div style="display: flex;"><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 4px; height: 14px; margin-bottom: 6px; width: 100px;">&nbsp;</div><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 4px; height: 14px; width: 60px;">&nbsp;</div></div></div><div style="padding: 19% 0;">&nbsp;</div><div style="display: block; height: 50px; margin: 0 auto 12px; width: 50px;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DH4c5tiSKfB/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" style="line-height: 0; padding: 0 0; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; width: 100%;" target="_blank"></a></div><div style="padding-top: 8px;"><div style="color: #3897f0; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 550; line-height: 18px;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DH4c5tiSKfB/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" style="line-height: 0; padding: 0 0; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; width: 100%;" target="_blank">View this post on Instagram</a></div></div><div style="padding: 12.5% 0;">&nbsp;</div><div style="display: flex; margin-bottom: 14px;"><div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div></div><div style="margin-left: 8px;"><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 50%; height: 20px; width: 20px;">&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div></div><div style="margin-left: auto;"><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div></div></div><div style="display: flex; margin-bottom: 24px;"><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 4px; height: 14px; margin-bottom: 6px; width: 224px;">&nbsp;</div><div style="background-color: #F4F4F4; border-radius: 4px; height: 14px; width: 144px;">&nbsp;</div></div><p style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 8px; overflow: hidden; padding: 8px 0 7px; text-align: center; white-space: nowrap;"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DH4c5tiSKfB/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">A post shared by St. Lo (@stlo.to)</a></p></div></blockquote><p>"We&rsquo;re incredibly proud of what we&rsquo;ve created within these walls, but as the saying goes: all good things must come to an end," the caption of an Instagram post announcing the closure reads.</p><p>The post doesn't offer much in terms of explanation for the closure, simply stating that the team&nbsp;"recently received an offer that [they] couldn&rsquo;t refuse."</p><p>"We built this place to be the space we always wanted and felt like the city needed; a home for the cultural fabric of Toronto to grow and evolve. We&rsquo;ve loved being a place for many to enjoy a good meal with an old friend, celebrate birthdays, a first date and even get married," they write.</p><p>"We&rsquo;re so grateful to have been able to host and hopefully add to all of these moments and more."</p><p>While the bar has already held its final installments of some of its most popular events, like Boogie and Cave Night, you've still got a little bit of time to swing by and give one final toast to Bar St. Lo.</p><p>The bar remains open for regular dinner service this week, and will host a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DIRigdAyILv/?img_index=4">few final events</a> on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 25 through 27, to go out with a proper bang.</p><p>Bar St. Lo is located at 26 Market Street.</p>
