Canada-wide recall issued for frozen pastries due to potentially deadly pathogen

Effe T. The <a href="https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/sweet-cream-brand-and-effe-t-brand-frozen-pastries-recalled-due-salmonella">recall was issued </a>on April 19 in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and possibly other provinces and territories. The notice affects the general public, as well as hotels, restaurants, and institutions.</p><p>"This recall was triggered by findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak," reads the alert. "There has been one reported illness that may be associated with the consumption of these products."</p><p>The 10 affected products include:</p><ol><li>D. Effe T. Apollini Mignon or Mini Lobster Tail (Lot numbers 24197, 24208, 24288, 24326, 25013)</li><li>D. Effe T. Apollo K2 or Big Lobster Tail (Lot numbers 24189, 24201, 24204, 24330, 24327, 24330, 25010)</li><li>D. Effe T. Sfogliata Napoli or Big Sfoglia Napoli (Lot numbers 24183, 24193, 24194, 24207, 24208, 24317, 24334, 24344)</li><li>D. Effe T. Mini Sfogliatella or Mini Sfogliatel (Lot numbers 24184, 24211, 24250, 24284, 24305, 24316)</li><li>D. Effe T. Mini Sfogliatella Cioccolato or Mini Chocolate Sfogliatele (Lot numbers 24210, 24253, 24337)</li><li>Sweet Cream Apollini Mignon or Mini Lobster Tail (Lot numbers 24197, 24208, 24288, 24326, 25013)</li><li>Sweet Cream Apollo K2 or Big Lobster Tail (Lot numbers 24189, 24201, 24204, 24330, 24327, 24330, 25010)</li><li>Sweet Cream Sfogliata Napoli or Big Sfoglia Napoli (Lot numbers 24183, 24193, 24194, 24207, 24208, 24317, 24334, 24344)</li><li>Sweet Cream Mini Sfogliatella or Mini Sfogliatelle (Lot numbers 24184, 24211, 24250, 24284, 24305, 24316)</li><li>Sweet Cream Mini Sfogliatella Cioccolato or Mini Chocolate Sfogliatele (Lot numbers 24210, 24253, 24337</li></ol><p>If this sounds familiar, it's because this is the second nationwide recall this year for products distributed by Importations Piu Che Dolci Inc. due to the presence of salmonella.</p><p>On <a href="https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/sweet-cream-brand-mini-patisserie-recalled-due-salmonella">Jan. 18</a>, the CFIA issued a nationwide recall of three types of Sweet Cream Mini Patisserie boxes. As of March 19, there were 79 confirmed illnesses, and 24 of those were hospitalized.&nbsp;</p><p>The <a href="https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/public-health-notices/2025/outbreak-salmonella-infections-mini-pastries.html">Public Health Agency of Canada</a> confirmed that the outbreak is over, and the investigation has been closed.</p><p>Under the new recall, the agency is urging consumers to check if they have the affected products. If you do, do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute them. You can either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.</p><p>"Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but can still make you sick," warns the CFIA. "Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections."</p>
