This time, it was his son, Max Domi, who scored in overtime to help the Leafs sweep the first two home games against the Ottawa Senators.

Domi got the puck on his stick in the slot and beat Linus Ullmark cleanly to see Leafs fans into a frenzy.

Tie was in the crowd at Scotiabank Arena and was celebrating after Max's shot found the back of the net.

"It's a heck of a play by [Benoit], he made that whole thing happen," said Max humbly postgame. "Got a little lucky when it squeaked through, I'm not sure if it was Cozens or who it was, but a little lucky and then you get inside the hashmarks like that, the middle of the ice, you've just got to shoot it. Ullmark's a heck of a goalie, but we'll take it."

MAX DOMI WINS IT FOR THE LEAFS IN OVERTIME. A CHILDHOOD DREAM COME TRUE 🤩

MAPLE LEAF SQUARE AND DAD TIE ARE LOVING IT 🚨 pic.twitter.com/C7I4UIVZ2x
— B/R Open Ice (@BR_OpenIce) April 23, 2025

"Big win, obviously we needed that one," continued Max. "I give Ottawa all the credit in the world. They played a heck of a hockey game. We stuck with it, made some plays that we had to make at the right time and big win. On to the next one now."

"Every night there's a different hero in playoffs, it doesn't matter who scores as long as we get the win…shoot the puck, anything can happen."

The series will now flip back to Ottawa. They haven't hosted a playoff game since 2017, so the fans will surely be going nuts, especially considering they're facing off against their provincial rival.

Max is no stranger to the Battle of Ontario. He spent a lot of time around the team when his dad was playing. Those Leafs teams also featured the current Senators coach, Travis Green, who played parts of three seasons with the organization.

"I could tell he was going to be a good hockey player from a young age," said Green about the younger Domi.

"Green is an awesome guy, first class all the way, happy for what he's done as a coach," said Max about Green. "It goes way back, obviously that stuff is behind us now, it was exciting to be a part of it as a kid, but turn the page and move on. Big win tonight and get ready for the next one."

Domi has the big goal and four hits through the first two games. His play style is suited to the postseason and if the Leafs can make a deep run, this likely won't be his last big moment.
