The product recommendations shown to prospective shoppers are based on what ChatGPT remembers about a user’s preferences as well as product reviews pulled from across the web.

There is one major difference between shopping through ChatGPT versus Google, for now: The results you see in OpenAI searches are not paid placements, but organic results.
“They are not sponsored.”While some product recommendations that appear inside of Google Shopping show up because retailers paid for them to be there, that’s just one mechanism Google uses to decide which products to list in Shopping searches.
Google favors those more considered reviews in search results and will rank them highly when a user is researching a product.
