The 45th Canadian federal election results are in, and the Liberal Party of Canada, led by Mark Carney, is projected to form government. When the Liberal Party’s win was projected, the count showed the Liberal Party of Canada leading with 161 seats and the Conservative Party of Canada trailing with 138 seats. Carney and Conservative leader Poilievre ran two very different campaigns, and U.S. President Donald Trump was a significant factor in political conversations leading to the election. Looking at the popular vote, both parties were neck and neck, with the Liberal Party having a slight edge. The NDP was projected to win six or seven seats when the Liberal Party’s victory was declared.
