While you're trying the backpack on for size, loosen the hip belt, sternum strap, compression straps, load lifters, and shoulder straps.
Buckle the hip belt around your waist, just above the iliac crest.
Now, pull the adjustment straps on either side of the hip belt until it’s snug but not painful.
Loosen it just a little bit until you feel most of the pack’s weight transfer back to your hips.
