The closure is, according to a construction notice, for utility works related to the LRT line, and will necessitate intermittent lane closures both ways on Yonge Street north of Eglinton.

The dates may also change due to weather, and the project "could take longer or shorter than expected."
The 19 km-long, 25-station east-west route, which has been in active progress since October 2011, will, of course, serve the crucial juncture of Yonge and Eg.
The platform of the existing Eglinton subway station had to be extended to this end, linking the LRT with TTC's Line 1 Yonge-University subway.
