Geely, a Chinese automaker, is using AI to try and improve the thermal efficiency of its plug-in hybrid system. (Thermal efficiency is a way to measure how effectively a device converts thermal energy into useful work—horsepower, in this case.) Geely’s Galaxy M9 SUV will be another of the brand’s vehicles to use their latest and greatest hybrid system. In the more distant future, Geely is also planning to adapt the Leishein AI Hybrid 2.0 to run on hydrogen. While hydrogen is much less accessible than gasoline, it could potentially boost the engine’s thermal efficiency from 47.26 % to 48.15 %.
