José Morales buried the winner in the seventh round of penalty kicks to propel Guatemala over Canada and into the semifinals of the Concacaf Gold Cup on Sunday in Minneapolis.
Following a 1-1 draw, Canada and Guatemala went goal for goal through the first four rounds of the shootout.
Both their players missed in the fifth round, with Guatemala goalkeeper Kenderson Navarro saving Cyle Larin's attempt before José Pinto missed high.
The result gives Guatemala its first semifinal appearance at a Gold Cup since 1996.
It's the second straight Gold Cup that Canada failed to reach the semis.
