This July 1 marks the 40th anniversary of Canada’s first wireless call. At the time, Toronto's mayor, Art Eggleton, made the call with Montreal's Mayor Jean Drapeau using a 10-pound (4.5kg) mobile phone. In July 1985, mobile networks only were able to handle 100 calls per day, but now, Canadians make about 100 million calls and use 6.5 billion megabytes of data on Rogers wireless network. "We're proud of our legacy of leadership and innovation to connect Canadians on Canada’s most reliable networks." And while this is the 40th anniversary of Canada's first wireless call, Rogers also produced a video to celebrate this important milestone.
