Tesla CEO Elon Musk is eyeing San Francisco for his next robotaxi city — to which I say, good luck to you, sir. Musk acknowledged that the company is still waiting on “regulatory approval,” which hints at the uphill climb company Tesla will face in pushing this process forward. But the permit does not authorize Tesla to offer rides to the general public or operate a full-fledged ridehailing service. Right now, Tesla only has one of these permits: testing with a safety driver. If anything goes wrong, California could come in and revoke Tesla’s robotaxi permits.
