Crews are still unsure of where a 1870 wreck—the steamer Berlin City—rests. Wisconsin’s Fox River has been home to a bounty of shipwrecks—and, therefore, shipwreck searches—over the years. The latest search, which was for the 1870 shipwreck of the steamer Berlin City, resulted in an unexpected discovery: a completely different shipwreck. Crane has likely been found, the final site of the Berlin City is still a mystery. In 1857, its speed was put to the test, as it raced the river steamer Pearl across Lake Buttes des Morts.
