Toronto's newest waterfront public space, Biidaasige Park, is sure to be a hit this summer, and you can check it out for yourself at the park's grand opening event happening this weekend.
Biidaasige Park (pronounced "bee-daw-si-geh," which translates to "sunlight shining toward us" in Anishinaabemowin) is an impressive new space in the burgeoning Port Lands area, built around a human-made river mouth in an area of the city that was a barren wasteland just a few years earlier.
blogTO got a chance to preview the new space on the eve of its public debut, including a look at the park's impressive skyline views of downtown Toronto, elaborate play structures, and even a zipline!
Check out the new Biidaasige Park in this photo gallery.
Biidaasige Park celebrates its official opening at 39 Commissioners St. on both Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.Those looking to attend the grand opening can take a free shuttle provided by Parkbus, running from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Toronto City Hall and Biidaasige Park.
