The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) intend to reevaluate how H-1B visas are issued, according to a regulatory filing. As of 2019, there were about 600,000 H-1B workers in the US, according to USCIS [PDF]. "In 2023, American colleges graduated 134,153 citizens or green card holders with bachelor's or master's degrees in computer science," Lynn wrote. Hira said 40 percent of H-1B visas go to middlemen with that sort of business model. Other avid fans of the H-1B program include US tech giants like Apple, Amazon, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Uber, and Walmart.
