Toronto's condo-packed Yonge and Eglinton area could soon get another major vertical addition.
A proposal has been tabled to demolish a group of homes just southwest of the Yonge-Eglinton intersection and replace them with a soaring 49-storey condo tower that, if approved, would dominate the predominantly low-rise block.
The 41 Berwick proposal would see the existing group of homes razed to make way for a Turner Fleischer Architects-designed tower that would reach a height of just over 170 metres.
Architecturally, the proposal incorporates some twisting and turning ornamentation into what would otherwise be a fairly standard Toronto condo tower.
Parking would have a minimal impact on traffic in the neighbourhood, with only 55 spaces provided for residents and visitors in a two-level underground garage.
