Maggie SlepianThe lugs are slightly shorter than other trail shoes, with just 3 millimeters of depth (compared to 4–5 for similar trail shoes), but I don’t notice a lack of traction, and I appreciate the lighter and more flexible feel.
For comparison, my go-to road running shoes (the ) have a 37 millimeter heel stack, and most Hoka shoes have at least 32 millimeters.
This is part of the reason I prefer the Lone Peak 9s for hiking instead of trail running.
