Trump just announced he’ll putting an enormous 100 percent tariff on chips and semiconductors — unless your company kisses the ring like Apple CEO Tim Cook just did, perhaps. “[If you’re building in the United States of America, there’s no charge, even though you’re building and not producing yet,” he said. But if you’re building in the United States of America, there’s no charge, even though you’re building and not producing yet, in terms of the big numbers of jobs and all of the things that you’re building. Or, perhaps, is Trump threatening tariffs on the makers of products that use chips rather than the makers of chips themselves? After previously threatening tariffs on chips in January and February, the Trump administration excluded them from tariffs come April.
