If you're already thinking about where to go when the snow hits this winter, you'll soon have another option to consider thanks to a new route announced by Montreal-based airline Air Transat.
Starting Feb. 4, 2026, Air Transat will offer non-stop flights between Toronto and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most visited cities in the Southern Hemisphere, known globally for its sweeping beaches like Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, and Barra da Tijuca.
From Toronto alone, the airline is now set to serve destinations like Georgetown (Guyana), Medellín, and Istanbul through a partnership with Turkish Airlines, in addition to Rio de Janeiro.
Air Transat is also increasing capacity and frequencies across several of its existing routes to South America and Europe, representing an approximate six per cent boost over last winter's schedule.
