Although you might be hoping for a smooth transition into a fall and a late start to the snowy season, a long-range winter forecast predicts that the upcoming winter season in Ontario will be anything but stable. According to the newly-released Farmers' Almanac Winter 2025-2026 Extended Weather Forecast, the forthcoming chilly season is set to bring "traditional winter patterns," including deep freezes, snowfalls and powerful storms. Despite what the groundhog predicts in February, the Farmers' Almanac forecast notes that we'll also see plenty of blizzard conditions throughout the month in Ontario. "The winter forecast for 2026 paints a picture of classic Canadian contrasts — deep cold, heavy snow and dramatic storms," the forecast reads. Still, winter is quite far on the horizon, and we have weeks of warm temperatures to get through before the snowy season makes its arrival.
