The tool, released by xAI earlier this month, encourages users to create NSFW content via a “Spicy” mode, and the first time The Verge tested it, the tool created topless deepfake videos of Taylor Swift, even without being asked to do so. The organizations asked the FTC and others to investigate xAI’s potential violations of Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery laws. The CFA and the other organizations also flagged their concern that the only things standing in the way of minors using “Spicy” mode to generate sexual imagery are a single pop-up asking the user to select their age or whether they are over 18.
