When CBS sold the company in 1984, Japan was the only country in the world producing Fender guitars. This 1988 Fender Japan Jazzmaster in Candy Apple Red is an early example of an official Japanese Fender offset. Scandal guitarist Mami Sasazaki and Haruna Ono’s designs highlight the clean, contemporary lines that have become synonymous with MIJ guitars.
