In recent weeks, California Governor Gavin Newsom has given his press office free rein to go full all-caps troll mode on X. On Monday, the account even went so far as to gin up a phony picture of avowed Trump supporter Kid Rock dressed as Uncle Sam with the slogan, “Kid Rock wants you to support Gavin Newsom.”Accompanying the post was a mocking message from the governor: “I ACCEPT! please dont put in the newspaper that i got mad.” And Newsom’s press office was happy to run with the engagement. A follow-up post yesterday read: “I HATE KID ROCK ! It was posted Aug. 18, 2025, exactly one year after Trump’s “Swifties for Trump” post on Aug. 18, 2024.
