Ontario man arrested after allegedly assaulting intruder who broke into his home

A 44-year-old Ontario man is facing two criminal charges after allegedly assaulting an intruder who had forced their way inside his apartment early Monday morning. The 41-year-old man who entered the apartment was already wanted by police at the time of the incident for unrelated offenses. Kawartha Lakes Police Chief Kirk Robertson defended the officers and noted that the service remains committed to public safety, transparency, and respectful dialogue. "The Kawartha Lakes Police Service appreciates the community's engagement and concern. Robertson concluded by stating that the police service will not be releasing any further information about the incident at this time.
