The wave of Beer Store closures in Ontario continues, as multiple outlets across the province prepare to shut their doors for good this fall. Effective Oct. 19, 2025, 12 stores across Ontario, including three in the GTA, will close, joining the dozens that have already shuttered in the face of increased competition following the province's move to expand alcohol sales to convenience stores. The Beer Store is modernizing to meet the changing marketplace and unfortunately this means making the hard decision to close retail locations. "The Beer Store recognizes the contributions our employees make to the business and in the communities where we operate. The Beer Store is set to operate at least 300 stores until the end of December 2025 under a deal with the provincial government.
