The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falls on Sept. 30 each year in Canada, and honours survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, as well as the children who never returned home. The day also recognizes the ongoing trauma caused by the schools, and is an opportunity to commit to the process of truth, justice, and reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis in Toronto and across the country. Although it is a federal statutory holiday, some provinces, including Ontario, have decided not to make it a provincial statutory holiday, meaning many services and sectors will continue to operate as normal this Tuesday, while some businesses might choose to close down. Here's everything that's open and closed in Toronto for National Truth and Reconciliation Day 2025. Most grocery stores will be open and operating on regular hours.
