Na-Me-Res, a non-profit organization in Toronto that helps unhoused Indigenous men access outreach programs and secure permanent housing in the city, is hosting its annual Day of Remembrance ceremony at Hillcrest Park to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. The event will feature traditional elements, including a sacred fire, a sunrise ceremony, and a drumming circle. There will also be speeches from the community that highlight the struggles of children and families impacted by residential schools, and honour these victims and their strength and resilience. This assembly will mark the fourth annual Day of Remembrance gathering hosted by Na-Me-Res, a free event open to anyone who wants to learn more about the country's Métis, Inuit, and First Nations peoples. The Day of Remembrance ceremony will take place on September 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Park, located at 950 Davenport Road.
