Canada has had a serious travel advisory in effect for anyone travelling to China since August, warning of potential health risks. On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the Government of Canada published a travel advisory update, urging travellers heading to China to exercise caution due to the risk of contracting chikungunya. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, symptoms can include rash, fatigue, vomiting, and headache. Mosquitoes that carry the chikungunya virus bite throughout the day, but are more active around sunrise and sunset. Canada also recently issued a travel advisory for Italy, warning Canadians of safety and security risks in northern Italy during the upcoming Milan Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
