Toronto Caribbean Carnival may be best known for its summer festival in the city, but it is fast becoming known for another celebration, this one held in the winter months in Ontario's Blue Mountains. Returning for its second year starting Dec. 5, Caribbean Winterfest heats up the cold weather with soca and steelpan performers, live DJs, and the same types of colourful costumes iconic of the Caribana weekend. Organizers are also hosting a winter fete, the DeFrost Party at Rusty's @ Blue on Dec. 6, an outdoor celebration featuring local talent and international performers. Blue Mountain Caribbean Winterfest runs from Dec. 5 to 7. The festival takes place in Blue Mountain Village at 156 Jozo Weider Blvd., located in The Blue Mountains, Ont.
