GO Transit service was halted for a portion of Thursday after a train slammed into a dump truck, and video footage from the train shows exactly how the incident went down.
The incident occurred just before 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, when GO Train #7711 struck the rear of a dump truck that had come to a stop on train tracks crossing Kennedy Rd.
Video of the crash was posted to LinkedIn on Thursday evening by Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay and widely circulated across social media.
"Events like this are a powerful reminder that safety at crossings can never be taken for granted," said Lindsay.
Lindsay extended a thank you to emergency response teams and GO Transit frontline staff "for their fast response and professionalism," as well as "the many customers who were impacted."
