Here’s what you’ll learn when you read this story:A highway project in the Czech Republic unearthed mass graves filled with soldiers. Four mass graves spanning two wars (in the 1700s and 1800s) were discovered in the Czech Republic, each filled with the remains of fallen soldiers and the projectiles that took their lives. As road crews worked to route a future D11 Motorway, the Archaeological Center Olomouc uncovered four different mass graves containing the bodies of soldiers felled in conflicts more than a century apart. Of the three 1866-dated mass graves, two were filled with Prussian soldiers buried after the battle of Novy Rokytnik in 1866. “We recovered more than 10 boxes of textile material from the Prussian graves,” said anthropologist Slawomir Antonik.
