“It’s important to be consistent, intentional, and mindful about sleep,” Buenaver, the head of Johns Hopkins’ Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program, tells Inverse. “You can’t really go without sleep,” Buenaver says. “There are three factors underlying and maintaining insomnia,” Buenaver says. “One of the most common coping strategies is that people who have insomnia try to maximize their opportunity to get sleep,” Buenaver says. “Adenosine is cleared when you sleep,” Buenaver says.
