A more recent study from 2024 found that the abyssal [uh·bi·sl] limb of the AMOC in the North Atlantic is weakening. But when climate models were run to the years 2300 and 2500, they showed that a tipping point for an AMOC collapse would likely happen within a few decades. And even if there were low emissions in the future, an AMOC collapse happened in 25 percent of the models. Maybe the AMOC collapse isn’t a pressing problem. An AMOC collapse is definitely something to be concerned about.
