Antoine’s advancements in the propagation of pecan trees that produced high-quality pecans of reproducible form, then, resulted in these nuts being cultivated as a cash crop that could be mass produced. Thus, the effort to establish these successful pecan trees that were the foundation for American commercial pecan production was literally cut down. However, Antoine’s achievement in developing a viable grafting method for pecan trees should not be undervalued.
