Nevada is suing to block the prediction market platform Kalshi from allowing residents to place bets on the outcomes of events, including elections and sports games, as reported earlier by Business Insider. The state of Nevada filed the lawsuit just hours after a federal appeals court denied Kalshi’s request to block Nevada from taking action against the company. Now, Nevada is asking the court to prevent Kalshi from letting users in the state place bets until it obtains the appropriate license. Prediction markets, including Kalshi, are currently facing at least 20 federal lawsuits over their sports betting offerings, according to The New York Times. Kalshi was dealt a large legal blow last month when a Massachusetts judge ordered Kalshi to stop allowing residents to place bets on sports.
